Backroads and Byways

When traveling country roads, many signs of times gone by fascinate me and beg to be photographed.  Some subjects are dilapidated and not long for this world, while others have been preserved for future generations to enjoy. Both offer many photographic opportunities to record their hidden beauty and tell a story of past or present life.

Images of Bethlehem Steel Company

As a native of Bethlehem, PA the steel company was a big influence on my life before closing in 2003.  Fortunately, some of it is preserved along the Hoover-Mason Trestle, a walkway with interpretive signage.  After several visits, I wanted to return with my camera under desirable lighting conditions to record what I saw.  One January day, I visited for two hours when I was "in the zone" photographically and I left very excited with this collection of detailed images of the remains.
