I've always loved experiencing the beauty of the natural world and I've been fortunate to travel extensively throughout the US and Canada to record it photographically, either on film or digitally.  I try to visualize the final result in color or black & white (sometimes I like both) and in various standard rectangular proportions. The challenge is trying to convey not only what I see, but also what my other senses experience, such as the sound of a rushing stream, the cold of a winter's day, or the smell of an ocean.
